{Funny Animal Pictures} Goats

I've been getting some funny/weird animal pictures lately, so I'm planning on doing a post for each kind of animal.

Here are the goat pictures.

Lamanchas are . . . well, sometimes kind of ugly I think.

"Jitterbug" is the new goat on the block . . .

She is hyper and funny ;)

Ooooo . . . . that feels good!

Silly goat :)

{On The Ranch} Death & Life

Sometimes life is sad on the ranch. Other times it is exciting (most of the time). Going into the winter here in OK is tough (especially if it gets down to -6F.). Usually at least one animal dies every winter - stillborn kids, pneumonia, cold, etc. But, there is also much new life.

With the pretty cool weather conditions it is right now, only in the beginning of fall, chances are we are heading for a very cold winter after the very harsh summer we had last season - not very much rain (but definitely not as bad as TX!), and because of the bugs and heat we didn't have a very good garden year.

Anyway . . . I guess I'll start with a picture:
This goat (Queen) we noticed was acting weird, so we brought her back to the stall and started treating her for Listeriosis . . . over the next day or so she seemed completely better - acting good, eating grain out of my hand (she used to be somewhat stand-offish).
A day or so later, one of the ewes was going into labor. We caught her and brought her up to a smaller pen where we could watch her.
At the same time Queen started going down again . . . and this time it seemed to no return - she was having bad seizures.
:(
Mom and Suriyah asked my brother who does the meat goats what he wants to do. In the meantime, Mom and another one of my sisters pulled out a big ramling out of the ewe that was in labor (you can read about it here).

My brother decided to put her down because they didn't think that she was going to pull through.

A couple more lambs have been born since then -

In light of all of this, remember -

1 Samuel 2:6
“The LORD kills and makes alive;
He brings down to the grave and brings up."
